The short answer

What should I do to stay healthy and catch common health problems early?

Men’s health is more than prostate concerns. Keep routine preventive visits even when you feel well, because blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol problems may have no symptoms. Discuss age- and risk-based screenings, vaccinations, dental care, and mental health. Share family history, and work on habits such as not smoking, limiting alcohol, eating nutritious foods, and being physically active. Screening choices depend on age, personal history, family history, and preferences, so ask a qualified health professional which preventive services fit you.

When might more than messages be needed?

A remote history can identify concerns and review prevention, but it cannot replace measurements or examinations when they are needed. In-person care or local testing may be necessary for blood pressure, blood tests, vaccinations, dental or eye examinations, cancer screening, or new symptoms that require a physical exam. Video may add useful visual information, but it still cannot perform every examination or test.
